Preventative Care with a Comprehensive Annual Exam
The annual physical exam enables your physician to establish a health baseline and customize a health and wellness plan. This yearly assessment serves as a key component by identifying health issues early on and preventing conditions from developing into crises.
The annual physical and lifestyle counseling session takes about two hours to complete. We use diagnostic and analytic testing to ensure that we have a comprehensive understanding of your health status and we review the results with you. Our goal is to make sure you undertand your present state of health, establish a detailed plan to take action when necessary, and to improve your overall health. Included in the Wellness exam are:
-Thorough history and complete examination-Electrocardiogram (EKG)-Spirometry (lung function test)-Ankle Brachial Index (arterial disease test)-Hearing testing-Vision testing-Thorough lab testing (blood drawn in office if you want)-Pooled Cohort Equation (Heart Attack/Stroke Risk Assessment)-FRAX Score (Osteoporosis bone fracture risk)-Variety of screening tools for sleep, depression, anxiety, prostate, memory, activity, nutrition.

Guaranteed Same Day Visits for Urgent Matters
If you are either not feeling well or have a medical condition that needs an urgent assessment, as a member of the practice, Dr. Bishop will see you the same day – guaranteed! With same day appointments (and next day appointments for less urgent issues), you can quickly resolve the situation and hopefully prevent small issues from becoming severe issues, all while avoiding expensive trips to the emergency room.
24/7 Access to Your Personal Physician
Dr. Bishop is available to you by telephone any time of day or night, seven days a week. He gives you his cell phone number when you start your membership. When necessary, Dr. Bishop will meet patients after office hours. Every effort is made to avoid referring patients to an emergency room when a medical issue can be safely and appropriately handled in the office. Don’t waste money and time in the ER or at an urgent care clinic for non-life-threatening issues when you can reach your physician by phone when you need them most.
Unhurried Office Visits that Start on Time
Standard offices visits are scheduled for 30 minutes and complete physical exams are scheduled for 2 hours to allow for a thorough personalized evaluation. In a normal primary care practice, patients typically wait 27 minutes in the physician's office or exam room before spending just 8-10 minutes with their doctor, a physician's assistant, or nurse practicioner. Dr. Bishop will provide each patient with time to address his or her medical concerns without running over into the next appointment, ensuring his patients should not experience wait times or hurried visits.
Chronic Conditions
Dr. Bishop manages chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, asthma, COPD, arthritis, and many others. He will take the time to understand your situation, empower you to manage your own health, and keep you up to date with the most current national care guidelines. If your condition is unstable or complicated to the point where a specialist’s care is needed, Dr. Bishop will refer you to a qualified physician who will assist in your care.
Specialist Care Coordination
When care from a specialist such as a cardiologist or orthopedic surgeon is indicated, Dr. Bishop will assist you with referrals. He will also communicate with your specialist to ensure your care is given the attention it requires. Our staff can also assist you with scheduling with your specialists.
Hospital & ER Coordination
In the case of serious illness requiring hospital care, Dr. Bishop will communicate with the hospitalist physician regularly until you are discharged, send over any relevant records, and coordinate your care after discharge. Therefore you can go to any hospital you prefer. If you have a serious emergency requiring immediate medical attention, call 911 and then either call Dr. Bishop or have the Emergency Department personnel call us to let us know so we can participate in your care.
Laboratory Tests
Dr. Bishop offers some basic onsite laboratory testing in the office (such as urinalysis, pregnancy testing, strep throat testing, Flu testing, blood sugar and more). For all other tests, we can obtain the blood and urine samples in our office and they are sent to reference laboratories for processing (usually Quest or Labcorp depending on your Insurance carrier).
Medications and Prescriptions
Prescriptions can be sent to the pharmacy of your choice, including mail order usually by computer.
*Vaccines
Unfortunately, immunizations are no longer available at Dr Bishop's office.
